NSS Tech Cell

The motto of N.S.S. is to evoke in every individual the feeling of 'Not me, But you' and involve college youth in social service. The NSS Tech unit of our college actively engages in various social service activities in and around the college. They organize festival celebrations, Blood donation camps, medical awareness camps, distribution of clothes, books etc. The overall objective of the scheme is educational and service to the community and is aimed at developing the overall personality of the students in such a way so that the students emerge as responsible individuals encompassing the virtues of life. NSS volunteers are an asset to the society. NSS Unit helps to develop a sense of service, team spirit and dignity of labour. The various program conducted by the NSS have brought about a remarkable change in their outlook and their attitude towards life and society. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society on the whole. Our NSS unit is acting as a catalyst to build up the right type of leadership in an Institution.

  • AIDS Day celebration

Date : 01-12-2016

World Aids Day observed annually on December 1st, is dedicated to raising awareness to the Aids pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. UNAIDS started organizing the World AIDS Day campaign to be celebrated with the particular annual themes for better global awareness about the disease. The theme for World AIDS Day 2016 is Hands Up for #HIV Prevention. As to create awareness and to Hands up for the prevention the NSS Volunteers distributed the red ribbon - the universal symbol of awareness and support for those living with HIV- to all the faculties of Saintgits College of Engineering.

  • First Constitution Day Celebration

Date : 24-11-2016

National Integration pledge is taken during the celebration to preserve and strengthen the liberty and honesty of the India on the First Constitution day. Pledge affirms that non violence, peace and faiths should be continued in order to settle all the differences as well as disputes of languages, culture, religions, regions, and political objections. The Volunteer Secretary administers the National Integration Pledge to the NSS volunteers of the SAINTGITS College of Engineering.

  • Women’s Day –National Integration Day

As a part of National Integration Week on Women’s Day the NSS Technical cell of Saintgits College of Engineering conducted essay writing, painting and digital poster designing competition. The topic of essay writing competition was “Status of women in Kerala- A comparision between ancient and modern times”.

  • Visharehitha Vishu

Date: 22.11.2016 – 24.11.2016

Visharehitha Vishu activity mainly aims for the cultivation of organic vegetables from our college by NSS volunteers. This activity includes clearing lands, preparation of land or grows bags, sowing crops or vegetables, proper irrigation, and harvesting. As an initial phase of the activity NSS volunteers started clearing of the lands near to snack bar of SAINTGITS college of Engineering from 4.10pm to 5.15pm on the above mentioned days.

  • Children’s day Celebrations

Date: 14-11-2016

Our unit conducted children’s day celebrations at government L.P School Pathamuttom. Ms. Babalu Sara Koshy, Counsellor and Welfare officer of Saintgits College of Engineering conducted an interactive session about Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. NSS student volunteers helped the L.P school children to make paper carry bags. The Children’s day celebration concluded with sweet distributions. It was really a wonderful experience for the students and as well as for the NSS volunteers.

  • Adopted School for Empowerment

As per the information got from the technical cell office we adopted the school Govt. L.P. School Pathamuttom for the uplift and to increase the facilities.

  • Manaveeyam Pledge

Date: 2.10.2016

The one week long manaveeyam programmes come to an end by the manaveeyam pledge. The pledge was taken by the POs and APOs and Volunteer secretary whole heartedly.

  • Ullasatheeram cleaning & Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations

Date : 2-10-2016

As a part of Manaveeyam, beautification and cleaning at Padiyarakadavu, was carried out on October 2nd under the banner of Ullasatheeram. The programme started by 7:30 in the morning and was successfully completed by noon. Around 100 volunteers actively participated.

  • Women Protection Awareness

NSS Tech Cell conducted a Tabloid depicting atrocities against women on 5th May 2016.

  • Detergent Making

NSS Tech Cell brought raw materials for manufacturing detergents and lotions and the team had spend hours during their holidays to produce about 420kg of detergent.

  • ‘Life School 2016’

Date: 23-04-2016 to 27-04-2016

As part of NSS Community Service activities the NSS Tech Cell conducted a 5-day workshop program in association with World Vision Organization named as ‘Life School 2016’.

  • Class on Tuberculosis

Date: 24-03-2016

NSS Tech Cell conducted a class regarding the elimination of Tuberculosis from the society.

  • Clean Campus Safe Campus

Date: 22-03-2016

NSS Tech Cell conducted an awareness program on topic ‘Clean Campus Safe Campus’ in association with the Police Department on 22nd March, 2016.

  • Hair for Hope

Date: 17-03-2016

NSS Tech Cell conducted a hair donation program for the cancer patients named ‘HAIR FOR HOPE’ on 17th March 2016 from 3pm to 5.30pm in the campus.

  • Organ Donation Campaign

Date: 12-03-2016

NSS Tech Cell organized a community program to spread the message of organ donation by conducting a flash mob at Kanjikuzhy.

  • Class on Lifestyle Diseases

Date: 13.02.2016

NSS Tech Cell conducted a class regarding lifestyle diseases. The class was organised with an aim to create awareness among the students to eliminate the slow killing poison in modern lifestyle.

  • Legal Awareness Class

NSS Tech Cell conducted a class on Legal Awareness on 13th February 2016 for the NSS volunteers.

  • Book Binding

Date: 19-01-2016

The volunteers of NSS unit conducted a book binding section on 19th January 2016 from 10am to 3pm.

  • Gender Equality Promotion and Awareness Programme

Date: January to March 2016

NSS Tech Cell organized Gender Equality Promotion and Awareness Programme from January to March 2016, aimed at sensitizing volunteers and community regarding Gender Issues and the Importance of Gender Equality in the development of our nation.

  • Bullet Rally

Date: 13-01-2016

Kerala Road Safety Authority had conducted a Bullet Rally at Perunna NSS college road on 13th January 2016 as part of the road safety week. Twenty Five NSS volunteers had attended in the rally.

  • Detergent Sale

Date: 18-12-2015

NSS Tech cell of the college has arranged a sale of detergents by the NSS volunteers on 18-12-2015 as part of fund raising for charity.

  • First Constitution Day

The NSS Tech of Saintgits celebrated First Constitution Day on 24th November 2015 as per the direction of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India and NSS Regional Directorate.

  • Rashtriya Ektha Diwas

Date: 31-10-2015

Saintgits NSS Tech cell observed ‘Rashtriya Ektha Diwas’ (National Unity Day) to re affirm among the youth, the strength of our nation to withstand the threat to unity integrity and security of our country.

  • Vigilance week

Date: 26-10-2015 to 31-10-2015

As per of celebrating the awareness week on Vigilance from 26th to 31st October 2015, NSS Tech Cell of Saintgits conducted poster competition and essay writing competition.

  • Meet the VC Programme

Date: 10-10-2015

As per direction from NSS State Coordinator, ‘Meet the VC Programme’ of KTU was arranged in the campus. The NSS volunteers of Saintgits College of Engineering coordinated the programme.

  • Blood Donation Camp

Date: 06-10-2015

The NSS Tech of Saintgits in association with Health Department of Kottayam Medical College organised a blood donation camp in the campus.

  • NSS Day Celebrations

The NSS Tech Cell of Saintgits celebrated NSS Day on 23th September 2015 and staged a skit, showcasing the message of love and patriotism.

  • 7-Day NSS Special Camp

Date: 21-08-2015 to 27-08-2015

The NSS camp of the NSS unit was conducted from 21st to 27th August 2015 at Saintgits College Of Applied sciences. The main activities were ‘BOOK FOR BOOKLESS’ , Manakachira-Contour Road cleaning etc.

  • Independence Day Celebration

Date: 15-08-2015

The NSS Tech cell of college celebrated Independence Day on 15th august 2015 at college and in association with ‘Changanacherry Vikasana Samithy’ had conducted a program to show respect to the freedom fighters.

  • Energy campaign and survey

Date: 14-08-2015

The NSS Tech Cell conducted an energy campaign and survey in Panachikkad Panchayat on 14th August 2015. This campaign was aimed at reducing the energy consumption and using energy more efficiently.

  • World Youth Day


NSS Technical Cell of Saintgits joined hands with the Health Department of Kerala State to observe the World Youth Day. The programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Jaya Kurian, Panachikad Panchayat Member.

  • General Orientation

Date: 18-07-2015

A training programme for NSS volunteers was held on 18th JULY 2015. The resource person was Mr. Sateesh Potti.

  • Digital India Celebration

Date: 17-07-2015

NSS Tech Cell of Saintgits organized Digital India Celebration on at Saintgits College. The students were made aware of all the important applications like Jeevan Pramaan, Digital Locker, e-hospital, e-Governance etc.

  • Environment Day
