ASCEND 2011

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Saint Gits College of Engineering hosted on 14 July 2011 ASCEND-2011,a national level technical symposium.The inaugural ceremony began at 9.30 am and was presided by many reputed people. The chief guest was Antony Satyadas, Solution Strategist of IBM Corporation. He is an open group master architect who has over 50 publications to his account and serves in the editorial board of many reputed international journals. KITA chairman George Abraham also attended the function. The welcome speech was delivered by the Project Manager, Renjay Surendran. The chief guests enlightened the audience by their inspiring words. The vote of thanks was given by Excel Secretary, A. Rohit Babu. Various events included are:

• Nail the Wall (Alpha Manager)
• Share Vault (Project Expo)
• Tweet it out (Treasure Hunt)
• Reload de Scraps (Gadget Assembly)
• IBM (Collaborative Jamming)

Along with these events Informals consisting of different fun filled games was also organized to let the participants unwind their stress and to have a good time.

ASCEND 2010

EXCEL-the students association of Computer Science and Engineering Department is organizing ASCEND-2010, a National Techno-Management Symposium on Friday, July 30. The annual event is an arena for students from reputed engineering colleges across the country to showcase their technical and managerial talents and be recognized, in addition to winning attractive prizes.Various events included are:

The inaugural function of the Fete and exchange of MoU documents with IBM team to set up the IBM Centre of Excellence is at 09.15 am in the Cultural Centre. Official opening of the IBM CoE lab will be held at 10.30 am.

The Chief Guest for the occasion is Mr. Anil Menon, Vice President, Channels, ISV and Developer Relations, IBM Software Group. The main attraction of the fete is the innovative 'Collaboration Jam Contest', organized in collaboration with IBM and KITA (Kerala Information Technology Alliance).

The valedictory function and the prize distribution ceremony will begin at 03.30 pm in the Seminar Hall The Chief Guest for this function is the KITA representative, Mr. Thomas Chennikara, Co-Founder & Director, Cybernet Software Systems, Inc., San Jose, CA, USA.
