Research Centres

Facility for Advanced Computing, Testing and Simulation of Electronics Circuits

( FACTS ELCi )

Centre of Excellence under Department of Electronics is functioning in the department and this centre coordinates the research activities of the department. Its activities are focused mainly on the design, analysis and integration of electronic circuits and systems in general and on the embedded systems in particular. This Centre supports teaching and research in Evolutionary Computing, Microcontroller based system design, Signal & Image processing, FPGA based system design, Wireless communication, Embedded control and Secure embedded systems.

The activities of this centre can be summarized into three groups:

  • To provide facilities for Advanced Computing, Embedded and digital system designs using microcontroller and FPGA, ASIC Design, DSP based system Design and simulation
  • To support general teaching and final-year-student projects on EDA systems
  • To support the research projects of staff and students

Chamber of Research Excellence (CORE)

CORE is a Technology Forum, started   and managed by Electronics and Communication Engineering Students under the auspices of Department of Electronics & Communication, Saintgits College of Engineering.

Objectives

  • To provide facilities to transform ideas into tangible realities.
  • To provide exposure and impart training to interested and deserving students in basic activities such as circuit designing, PCB fabrication etc.
  • To establish a state of the art R&D center and product testing center in collaboration with renowned institutions and industries.

Programme of work

  • Conducts feasibility study of the proposed project and implements if it is feasible.
  • Provides necessary support and guidance to students working on their projects.
  • Co-ordinates the functioning of the electronics Hobby Club.
  • Conducts an annual project exhibition competition in which the best project will be awarded.
  • Organizes talks and seminars on emerging technologies on a regular basis.
  • Provides a common platform for students and faculty to interact through blogs, mails etc.
