Mission
The Mechanical Engineering program at SAINTGITS delivers an educational program of study that prepares its graduates to become intellectual leaders in industry, government, and academia. Graduates of our programs are grounded in scientific, mathematical, and technical knowledge through coursework that keeps pace with current relevant technologies; they have developed the ability to analyze, synthesize, and design engineering systems through their immersion in the problem-based activities of this institution and, by means of general education courses, they have enhanced their ability to communicate and have acquired an understanding and appreciation for other areas of human intellectual achievement. |
Course and Department
Mechanical Engineering - one of the three conventional branches which conforms to the cardinal definition of Engineering, ie. Application of science to human needs - is a versatile branch encompassing the dimensions of all other Engineering branches viz Structural Engineering, Computer Programming, Electrical Technology & Mechatronics. The Mechanical Technology which drives various machines around the globe is undoubtedly a rudimentary one. In present scenario, Mechanical Engineering incorporates and makes use of the developments in the Electronics and Information Technology field in order to reign as the most productive and beneficial realm of Engineering.
The Mechanical Engineering Department was established in the year 2002. The department launched M.Tech course in Machine design in the year 2008 with a yearly intake of 18 students. The four year B.Tech course consists of 8 semesters integrated with Theoretical and Practical sessions. The yearly intake is 120 students and they are allocated in two batches: A & B. The department has a very efficient advisory system which always keeps very close teacher-student relationship. The faculty of the department is well qualified and dedicated to the improvement of academic standards and is keen on the overall development of the students. The faculty has been trained in various National and International workshops, seminars and training programs to cope with rapidly changing teaching methodologies and to impart efficient knowledge to the students. The laboratories and the workshop in the department and the supporting departments give ample opportunities to the students of Mechanical Engineering to gain practical knowledge and hands on experience. Industrial visits and Educational tours are made an integral part of the curriculum to familiarize the student with the industrial environments and working conditions. |
