  1. Induction visits to several large manufacturing industries and talks by senior managers of these industries and business associations. This is done prior to commencement of the curriculum. The Students are invariably taken to Bangalore/Chennai/Hosur etc. since the state does not large private firms yet.
  2. Corporate Captains' Talks: The curriculum is interspersed with talks from corporate captains.
  3. Exposure through Management Association: All our students are made members of the management association and made to attend the monthly meetings. This enables them to interact with practicing managers on an informal level and with the speaker of the day on a formal level.
  4. Corporate Projects: we expose the students to 3 projects (at the end of Semester 1, 2 and 3), One is an organizational study project, another a marketing project and the third based on the area of specialization. This practice that is unique to SIM and gives unique live experience.
  5. Seminars: All students are exposed to at least two corporate seminars outside the institute to inculcate the ability to work in diversity.

 Creating Competitiveness:

All our students compulsorily attend at least one competition. Many of them attend several competitions and win several prizes.  The Institute sponsors these including registration fee, travel etc.

Creating Focus:

Most students are not focused on the sector and functional area in which they prefer to work when they join. Through sector study, mentoring and corporate exposure we guide them to their focus area and through the projects we enable them to acid test their focus so that when they apply for a job, they are clear on the sector and the functional area they want to be in.

Mentoring and Personality Development:     Focused mentoring based on the experience of training Defence Officers is the key to converting our students into excellent corporate employees. Divided into groups of Fifteen with a Core Faculty Mentor, the students are given daily exposure to the key skills the corporate expect i.e. Communication and articulation, presentation, self discipline, ability to work in an environment of diversity, Team work, collaboration, application of IT, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, managing stress, interpersonal relation skills, skills to take initiative, and Assertiveness. The crux of this mentoring is identifying the weakness of each individual and correcting each individual. The student's self monitoring diary' is a highlight which enables each student to define goals, make effort and measure the performance. It is this mentoring which have enabled our students to step into the corporate world effectively. Mentors also facilitate reference to specialist counseling under expert psychologists who are also part of our core faculty team. The mentoring is also assisted by Psychometry tests of personality for which core faculty is available.
